[Solved] Laboratory science

[Solved] Laboratory science

Instructions

As part of the annual review conducted by the safety and compliance department at your company, several situations were identified as potentially non-compliant.

Here are some lab policy breaches that have occurred in a research lab:

  • taking the backup supply of a critical reagent without reporting to supply personnel
  • taking a careless approach to using radioactivity (or hazardous materials, including infectious materials)
  • improperly disposing of hazardous materials (e.g., dumping ethidium bromide solutions in sink)
  • wearing personal protective gloves, scrubs, or lab coat in the eating areas or bathrooms
  • using common equipment without adhering to sign-up procedures and not cleaning equipment or area when complete

These are just a few examples of behaviors that can result in lab conflicts. As an example of a possible resolution, when backup supplies of reagents are disappearing, it may become necessary to institute a system in which lab members do not have access to backup supplies, but have to tell a lab manager when they are running low on a reagent so that the lab manager can dispense from the backup and reorder.

This assignment has two deliverables: Safety and Compliance Paper and Discussion Planner

A brief description (and history) of this assignment. We used to have students write a memo describing a lab conflict and propose a resolution to the conflict. It was decided this may not reflect how conflicts are resolved in a team environment and looked at how business management would approach it. This is where the Discussion Planner was added. A memo is a type of one-way communication. A lab meeting with discussion is a two-way (or more, depending on number of team members involved). The Discussion Planner is set to provide guidance during the meeting, much like an agenda would provide an outline for a meeting. The creating team for this project tried to keep it straight forward and indicate where you are to provide information (a series of questions).

So, why the two parts to the assignment? Part A–a short paper for you to describe how the lab safety non-compliant behavior or situation (policy breech) is harmful or of concern to the safety of the workplace. Part B–Discussion Planner-how the non-compliant situation would be discussed at a meeting.

Safety and Compliance Paper

You will prepare a Short Paper (A) and complete the Discussion Planner (B) document in response to a breach of lab policy regarding safety. Example breaches are provided or you may select your scenario based on readings or from experience.

Post in your completed Paper and Discussion Planner in the corresponding assignment folder by the due date.

Part A: In a 2-3 page double-spaced paper:

  • Select one of the situations listed above for lab policy breeches.
  • Identify the relevant areas of safety and the appropriate regulatory agencies that would apply to the working environment.
  • Identify the ways in which this lab does not comply with sound laboratory practices and safety regulations, and what steps would be necessary to bring the lab into compliance.
  • Describe your strategy to communicate with all laboratory personnel about any instances of noncompliance and the multi-pronged approach you will take to minimize the recurrence of such noncompliance

Part B: Discussion Planner about Non-compliant Behavior

Now that you have examined the safety regulations, you have working knowledge of the importance of compliance in the workplace. Use the background information from Part (A) to help you to complete the Discussion Planner form (see attachment) for the non-compliant behavior that was demonstrated by laboratory personnel.

[Solved] Cost and Quality in Health Care

[Solved] Cost and Quality in Health Care

Cost, quality, and access to care have been Americans’ main concerns when it comes to health care. Disruptions (i.e., staffing shortages, operations, managed care contracts, and technology) to the conventional way of operating in health care may create an opportunity for simultaneous improvements in cost, quality, and access.

  • Propose three strategies that you can increase creativity and innovation in a health care organization.
  • Explain how these three strategies can help the health care organization to achieve Triple Aim: 1) enhancing the experience of care, 2) improving the health of populations, and 3) lowering per capita costs of health care.

[Solved] TNT 700.5P Performance-Based Assessments: Planning Instruction Part III

[Solved] TNT 700.5P Performance-Based Assessments: Planning Instruction Part III

Candidates add components taught in this module to the two lesson plans previously submitted in 700.4P Planning Instruction Part 2 for evaluation. This is the final evaluation of the lesson planning projects. Recall that you will use the same two lesson plans you have previously submitted in 700.4. This performance-based assessment, 700.5, continues with those same two plans, this time evaluating different parts of the lesson plan and the overall plan.

As before, this project is much more detailed than lesson plans typically used in the classroom. The performance-based assessments are designed to evaluate candidate skills in a comprehensive way; thus, candidates are asked to provide much more detail than in traditional plans so that the instructor is able to evaluate skills in these areas.

  • Questioning strategies and feedback
  • Accommodations and modifications
  • The extent to which the lesson is differentiated
  • Assessment for learning
  • The overall plan

For 700.5P, candidates submit two complete and original lesson plans for feedback and final evaluation.  The parts of the lesson plan form that will be scored include Differentiation (Reteach and Extensions) Closure, Questions, Modifications and Accommodations, Assessments, and the Overall Plan.

While each lesson is designed to deliver the state-required content for the grade level, some students require additional learning supports to successfully access this content. Students who are learning the English language, or who have learning disabilities are especially in need of these supports. There are multiple supports for learning that are available for all students; however, more intensive supports are often required for some learners with greater needs.  These more intensive supports fall into two categories; accommodations and modifications.

[Solved] 2 questions

[Solved] 2 questions

1 questions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaEYIYJLVlw

Watch the video and answer the following three (3) questions:

1. What does this positioning statement tell you?

2. In relation to the iPad, what can you see are…

INTERNAL/Company & Product

– The Company/Product’s Strengths?

– The Company/Product’s Weaknesses?

EXTERNAL/The Market

– The Market Opportunity?

– The Market Threats?

3. Knowing what you now know about positioning, create a new and improved tagline for the 2010 iPad:

Question2:As you will soon see, entering a competitive market with a product, no matter how magnetic or great, is not an easy task and simply creating “magic moments” is not enough.

In order to build an effective marketing strategy it is important to gain an understanding of the dynamics of the marketplace including competition, customers and potential customers, the company itself, etc. We call this process a Situation Analysis.

Your first project will be to develop a “Bring Krispy Kreme Back to New England (Boston)” Marketing Strategy. For those of you not from the region, the major competition for Krispy Kreme was and still is Dunkin Donuts, which for many folks rules New England!

Before we dive into the project and with limited information at hand for the moment, take a look at the Situation Analysis Checklist.pdf

As you will experience, there is massive information to sift through to help you understand the marketing environment including:

  • The Fast Food Treat/Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) Sector in New England
  • The Brands
  • Past History in the Region
  • Financial Performance (past/present)
  • Scale of Competitors’ Presence (esp. Dunkin Donuts & Starbucks) in the Market
  • And more!

Yikes! So how do you get this information? Where do you go? How can you do this efficiently?, and effectively? How do you begin?

The Assignment:

Like most of us, you will probably go to Google first.

1. Go ahead, go to Google, and at minimum, list five (5) sources of relevant information to help you build a Situation Analysis. Please list for each source:

  • Search Terms You Used
  • Names of Sources with Links
  • Description of What You Found

For example, here is one (1) source I found searching for “Dunkin Donuts Competition”:

Starbucks vs. Dunkin Donuts – Boston.com

https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/boston.com…The Boston GlobeThe Globe mapped all the Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts in the United States — more than 11,100 Starbucks and 7,200 Dunkins — and asked three business analysts to tell us what the maps say about the competition between Starbucks and Dunkins. 2. Do the same again, but don’t use Google as your search engine!, and again list five (5) sources as #1 above.  I also need you to list

  • Search Terms You Used
  • Names of Sources with Links
  • Description of What You Found

HINT: I recommend you check out the Iwasaki Library and the resources that are available there.

Impress Me:1. How far did you go to get the background information you need to develop a strategy, and2. What more do you think you need to tackle the upcoming project.
